See the residency guide for details.

Florida voters approved Amendment 3 on November 3, 2026, with 61.98% of the vote in unofficial state results. It takes effect January 1, 2027. The non-school homestead exemption rises to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028. The amendment sets December 31, 2026 as a residency date for the full increase. Homeowners must also qualify for the homestead exemption. Implementation laws and guidance are still pending.

Please read: Legal residency and homestead eligibility depend on individual circumstances and applicable law. Renting a property alone does not guarantee tax benefits.
